It’s been quite a while since I’ve had the chance to watch The Killers. I actually forgot how much I enjoyed this movie. It’s filled with urgency from start to finish, a definite must see classic.

The Killers take place in the small quiet New Jersey town of Brentwood. Two men are sent to Brentwood to kill “the Swede”, played by Burt Lancaster. In the style of gang activity from 1946, these two killers are everything but quiet. They enter the Swedes favorite diner and immediately making their presence known. They basically make their intent on killing the swede no secret.

The Swede upon hearing this gives up, partly due to his own conscience.  This is where the movie really takes off. The murder of the swede causes an investigation to take place. The investigation makes its way into hidden secrets of the Swedes life that unearth an old unsolved robbery from the past and a not so nice dame, with you guessed criminal ties.

The movie becomes a race to solve a crime, recover lost money and track down criminals that will stop at nothing to get what they want. I’m not going to tell you every detail and ruin the movie. I will however tell you that if you’re in the market for a good noir classic that has everything that’s characteristic of film noir then this is definitely the movie to see. It has killers, deceitfulness, determined investigators and an incredible powerful women that is as dangerous as she is beautiful.
