I thought just to keep it fun I would share some of my favorite Noir based cartoon shorts. These range in style and are created by several different people. All of them are worth a look.
My favorite of all time is Homer Simpson in Sin Simpson. Sin Simpsons is a cute take on the Sin City Movie with Homer playing Mickey Rourke’s character. It’s pretty short but worth watching, as far as the artistic of film go the uploader, crabcuts did an excellent editing job. Sin Simpsons is certain to become an animated noir short classic.
Another favorite animated noir based short that I find to be an artistic piece worth mention is titled Noir CMF Art Institute. It’s an art institute creation and details the talents of the students. This particular short has the surrealism and tone of noir characteristics yet ads an emotional aspect that you honestly wouldn’t expect in a 2 minute and 27 second short. I especially like that they added a modern feel to a classic art, an ideal that’s often lost.
There are many other Noir shorts that you should take a look at when you get time, you can simply search YouTube for animated noir shorts and you get a rather hefty selection. The great thing about watching these shorts is that they have to be powerful and done perfect. They receive minimal time to get in the aspect of the noir style. In my opinion, the shorts are often better than even some of the greatest film noir classics.
